The Salvation Mountain rescue team has been inundated with calls after a car carrying four women was found unresponsive on Sunday morning.
The women, aged 25, 26, 26 and 30, were in a car with their dogs in the middle of the road when it crashed into a tree.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The men, aged 27, 27, 29 and 26, were all found to be unconscious.
The road was closed for several hours while the emergency services investigated the crash.
There were also reports of roadworks in the area and a large police presence.
The Salvation Mountain team, which is based at a remote area of the Gold Coast, said it would work on the site until it was safe to resume operations.
