3 PEOPLE were killed and two others were injured in a shooting at a mountain resort in the Chinese province of Xinjiang, officials said.
The victims were found in a hotel room in the resort of Gansu, which has a population of some 15 million.
Authorities did not say how the shooting took place.
The area has a large Muslim population and many of its residents are Uighurs, a Muslim ethnic group that is not considered Muslim by China.
The resort has been a hotbed of violence in recent years, including a spate of attacks on police and government buildings.
The resort has also been the site of a series of recent attacks by Uighur extremists on Chinese security forces.
The shooting at Gansudayu resort in Xinjiang’s Kunming province is the latest in a string of deadly attacks by Islamic extremists in Xinjin.
