A new survey conducted by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology found that, according to the researchers, the species is found in the northwestern portion of the state of New York, with a minimum of 1,000 individuals.
The survey, which was published in the journal PLOS ONE, also found that the oysters are found in areas in northern Michigan and Pennsylvania.
A similar survey conducted last year by the Center for Coastal Research in Miami, Florida, found the oyster to be widespread in the area.
The oysters were also found in Ohio, New York State, and Pennsylvania, according the researchers.
